Vila Nova de Famalicão hosts Active and Healthy Aging Week
Vila Nova de Famalicão is hosting the “Active and Healthy Aging Week” from September 29 to October 2. The initiative features a variety of programs designed to promote intergenerational sharing, sustainability, and the well-being of the senior population.
Key events include the presentation of the “GERA+ – Intergenerational Network” pilot project to combat social isolation, and the delivery of 400 diplomas through the “A City for All Ages” program. Additional pilot projects will focus on environmental practices led by seniors and a “Senior Safety Network” developed in collaboration with civil protection and local police to prevent fraud and domestic accidents.
The week will also commemorate International Day of Older Persons on October 1 with artistic exhibitions and social activities. The program concludes on October 2 with the 3rd “Famalicão, City Friendly to Older People” conferences, featuring debates on positive longevity and networked work involving medical and psychological specialists.
