Odemira: Man arrested for suspected sexual assault of pedestrian

The Polícia Judiciária (PJ) has arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with the sexual assault of a 62-year-old woman in Odemira. The incident occurred on September 24 on a municipal road while the victim, a pedestrian tourist, was walking.

According to investigators, the suspect approached the victim in a vehicle, stopped behind her, and exited the car to physically overpower her. The assault was interrupted when another vehicle passed by and the victim shouted for help, prompting the suspect to flee the scene in his car.

The Portimão Criminal Investigation Department identified and located the suspect following the collection of evidence. The man has been taken for judicial interrogation to determine necessary coercive measures. The inquiry is being directed by the Public Ministry of Odemira.
