Vila Nova do Ceira cooperative seeks operator for first hotel in Góis

The Cooperativa Social e Agro-Florestal de Vila Nova do Ceira has opened a public tender for the management and operation of the Hotel do Mel – Casa da Costeira. Located in Vila Nova do Ceira, within the municipality of Góis, this facility represents the first hotel in the region.

The property features 19 rooms, a suite, a restaurant with a 200-square-meter terrace, and sits on three hectares overlooking the Ceira River valley. The tender covers both the hotel and restaurant for a minimum period of five years.

In an unusual move for the market, the cooperative is not setting a base rent value, allowing applicants to propose their own. Additionally, the tender does not mandate minimum requirements for experience, scale, or financial capacity, aiming to allow emerging operators to compete with larger groups. Applications are being accepted until November 27.

The initiative seeks to address a structural gap in local tourism. While the region attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually for events such as the International Motorcycle Concentration, the Rally of Portugal, and the Góis Cup, current accommodation is limited to small country houses and local lodging that lack the capacity to host large groups.
