Vila Nova defeats Botafogo-SP to reclaim Série B lead

Vila Nova reclaimed the lead in Brazil's Série B following a 1-0 victory over Botafogo-SP at the Santa Cruz Stadium in Ribeirão Preto. The decisive goal was scored by Janderson in the 47th minute of the first half, following a cross from Hayner.

Despite Botafogo-SP dominating much of the match and creating several opportunities, they were unable to convert. A potential equalizer by Hygor was disallowed by VAR due to an offside at the start of the play. The win brings Vila Nova to 57 points, placing them one point ahead of second-placed Juventude.

Botafogo-SP remains in 16th place with 35 points, five points clear of the relegation zone. Vila Nova's victory also ended a four-month streak without an away win. The team, managed by Guto Ferreira, will next face Cuiabá at home.
