Vila-real begins first phase of Parc Central de l’hort de Puchol

The Vila-real City Council has begun the first phase of works to transform the Alqueria de Puchol and its surrounding orchard into the future Parc Central de l’hort de Puchol. This project aims to create a green space exceeding 8,000 square meters in the city center.

Mayor José Benlloch and Vice Mayor Maria Fajardo visited the site to mark the start of interventions, which include opening a new entrance from Carrer de les Mares, Plaça de Maig, providing direct access to the main building's staircase.

The current administration is working to redefine the urban planning of the area to prevent previous development plans that would have allowed the construction of several buildings up to six stories high and the opening of two new streets. The new approach focuses on preserving the heritage site and its orchard to serve as a 'climate refuge' and a space for nature, quality of life, and sociocultural activities.
