Vila Real de Santo António inaugurates outdoor calisthenics park
The municipality of Vila Real de Santo António inaugurated an outdoor calisthenics park at the Municipal Sports Complex on August 12, coinciding with International Youth Day. Located near the existing skate park, the facility was developed through the winning proposal of the third edition of the Youth Participatory Budget (Orçamento Participativo Jovem), presented by Maria Ferreira.
The project involved a municipal investment of 8,745.30 euros. The infrastructure is free to use and designed for street workout training using body weight. It features various stations and bars at different heights to facilitate exercises such as pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and mobility movements, catering to users of various experience levels.
The inauguration was attended by Vice-President of the Vila Real de Santo António City Council, Patrícia Jerónimo, the project author, and members of the Municipal Youth Nucleus. This initiative follows previous participatory budget projects focused on culture and youth, such as the 'Mind Meets Body' and 'Renascimento' projects.
