Vila Velha police seize surveillance cameras used by criminal groups
Police in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, conducted ‘Operação Provedor.Net 2.0’ to dismantle surveillance systems used by criminal groups. Authorities seized approximately 15 hidden cameras that were installed in boxes on utility poles to monitor the movement of police vehicles and residents in several neighborhoods, including Vasco da Gama, Boa Vista, and São Torquato.
One individual linked to the installation and exploitation of internet services was arrested. Investigators believe these groups used the cameras to hinder police operations and attempted to control local internet distribution by cutting wires and preventing technicians from working in the areas. The operation aims to restore regular internet access for residents in the affected communities.
