Construction accidents in Brazil cause worker death and emergency rescues

Multiple construction accidents in Brazil have resulted in worker injuries and fatalities. In Florianópolis, a structural collapse during a concrete pouring process at the Azzure Home Club development in Praia Brava left one worker dead and several others injured. The construction group Hantei stated that the incident involved the failure of a temporary shoring system rather than a slab collapse. The project's structural execution was managed by a third-party company, Emplafer Engenharia Ltda.

In Capão da Canoa, a separate incident involved a worker who became buried under sand during excavations for a residential condominium in the Curumim district. Emergency teams, including firefighters from Porto Alegre, conducted a seven-hour rescue operation. The worker remained conscious throughout the process but required thermal blankets due to signs of hypothermia and challenges posed by high groundwater levels at the site.
