Vila Viçosa and Vassouras host cultural heritage celebrations

In Vila Viçosa, Portugal, local authorities and community organizations held ceremonies to honor the legacy of Dr. João Augusto do Couto Jardim on the occasion of the municipal holiday. Born in 1879, Couto Jardim was a physician known for his humanitarian work and his critical role in managing the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic. The tributes, held near his monument, aimed to ensure younger generations recognize his contributions to the community's health and social welfare.
