Vila Viçosa invests in electric vehicle and waste management equipment

The Municipality of Vila Viçosa has invested in new equipment to enhance waste management and sustainability. The municipality acquired a new electric vehicle and a container washing unit to improve waste collection services.

These tools will facilitate the start of door-to-door selective collection of bio-waste, initially targeting the hospitality sector (HORECA) and large producers such as schools and nursing homes. The project, co-financed by the Alentejo 2030 program, aims to reduce organic waste sent to landfills, promote a circular economy, and meet European Union recycling and organic valorization targets.
