Vilafranca del Penedès implements new waste collection system

The Vilafranca del Penedès Environmental Information and Awareness Office (OISA) is now accepting citizens without appointments to manage the transition to a new waste collection system. Residents can collect necessary kits, container keys, buckets, and mobile application access credentials at the office located within the Citizen Service Office.

To complete these procedures, residents must present documentation proving their residence, such as a utility bill, rental contract, or census certificate.

Starting in 2027, the municipality will introduce a financial incentive for recycling. Households that use the container identification system at least 12 times on different days within a single quarter will be eligible for a 5% discount on their waste tax. This initiative, supported by the Penedès-Garraf Commonwealth and the Vilafranca City Council, aims to increase selective collection levels and meet European environmental objectives.
