Vilafranca to Light Up Historic Centre with Over 16,000 Candles on August 1
More than 16,000 candles will illuminate the historic centre of Vilafranca on August 1, marking the seventh edition of the Night of Candles. The route opens at 22:00 and remains accessible until 01:00, with a food bar offering sandwiches and drinks.
The event pays tribute to the upcoming solar eclipse, featuring eclipse‑themed candle designs created by local artist Javier Soligó. Live radio will broadcast an interview with astrophysicist Daniel Guirado Rodríguez, and a concert by J.J. Machuca will be streamed with drone footage and live screens.
Volunteers are invited to help place the candles and will receive a free snack and drink. The Night of Candles attracts visitors from surrounding towns and has become a key summer attraction for the region.
