Vilanova del Vallès local police station closed due to staff shortages
The UGT union has reported that the local police station in Vilanova del Vallès was forced to close over a weekend due to a shortage of personnel. As a result, police services had to be diverted to the Mossos d’Esquadra.
According to union sources, the force has 16 positions, two of which remain vacant due to municipal decisions. Of the 14 covered positions, the head of the local police and one agent are currently away from operational duties, leaving only 12 officers to cover a municipality of approximately 6,000 inhabitants 24/7. The union noted that the situation is exacerbated by the municipality's decision not to fill vacancies or authorize extraordinary services to cover for holidays, leaves, or sick days.
