Vilardecás village creates open-air rural photographic museum

The village of Vilardecás, located in Maceda, has transformed its streets into an open-air “Rural Photographic Museum.” Following a community effort last year to refurbish local spaces, residents have launched this cultural initiative to showcase local photography.

Starting the weekend of August 8 and 9, eighty photographs were distributed throughout the village. The exhibition uses creative, improvised supports such as light poles, ancient stone fences, and the surroundings of traditional hórreos. The project aims to be inclusive, allowing elderly residents and those without social media access to enjoy the local photography contest without digital barriers.

The displayed works capture the landscape of Vilardecás, the surrounding mountains, and the local flora and fauna of Maceda. Of the eighty images on display, sixty were part of an official competition, while the remaining twenty were added to complete the general collection.
