Vilas en Flor 2026 begins evaluations of Galician municipalities

The Vilas en Flor 2026 movement has commenced evaluation visits to 40 Galician municipalities. These visits aim to assess local governments' efforts in sustainable management, environmental education, and citizen awareness regarding the care of green spaces.

Participating towns are competing for the ‘Flores de Honra’ award, with a maximum of five available. The jury, composed of experts, is evaluating criteria such as the preservation of botanical and landscape heritage, environmental sustainability, and the integration of green spaces with social use and tourism. The annual gala is scheduled to take place in Salceda de Caselas.

The initiative is promoted by the Juana de Vega Foundation in collaboration with Asvinor (Northwest Nursery Association) and Agaexar (Galician Association of Gardening Companies), with sponsorship from the Consellería de Medio Ambiente through the Instituto de Estudos do Territorio.
