Vili Beroš indictment confirmed in Croatian medical procurement scandal

The Zagreb County Court has confirmed an indictment against former Croatian Health Minister Vili Beroš and two others in a corruption case involving the rigged procurement of medical robotic devices and microscopes for several hospitals.

According to USKOK, an organized group manipulated public tenders between 2022 and 2024, resulting in the purchase of medical equipment at significantly inflated prices. The alleged scheme caused an estimated loss of over 740,000 euros to the state budget. Beroš is specifically accused of receiving 75,000 euros in bribes.

Other defendants named in the indictment include former hospital directors Goran Roić and Tomo Pavić. While several other individuals involved in the scandal, including entrepreneurs Hrvoje Petrač, his sons Novica and Nikola Petrač, and Saša Pozder, have previously reached plea agreements with prosecutors, Beroš, Roić, and Pavić have denied the allegations.
