Villa Alemana Book Fair Opens with Mayor Nelson Estay and Culture Official Catalina Dib

The 13th Villa Alemana Book Fair began with a ceremony at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, attended by Mayor Nelson Estay and regional culture minister Catalina Dib. Estay highlighted the fair’s growth from a modest gathering to a major regional cultural event, calling it “a celebration of culture and reading.” Dib noted strong public interest despite digital trends, emphasizing the fair as a space for community interaction with physical books.

The opening featured a talk by social‑media influencer Joaquín Reynaud (known as “Albo Lectxra”), who advocated for making reading accessible to all. The weekend program includes activities for children and adults, with numerous publishers, writers, and cultural guests scheduled to participate.
