Villa de Pozos attains municipal autonomy in San Luis Potosí
Villa de Pozos has transitioned to a sovereign municipality in San Luis Potosí, moving away from its previous status as a dependency of the state capital. During the second results report of Council President Patricia Aradillas Aradillas, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona emphasized that this autonomy allows the municipality to manage its own resources and make direct decisions to address local needs.
To support this transition, the state has invested 200 million pesos in various infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of Avenida Seminario, the encapsulation of the Españita River, and the recovery of Plaza El Cóndor. Additionally, over 80 works have been completed in coordination with the state government, covering road rehabilitation, sports units, and public lighting.
On the social front, the municipal administration has implemented several direct-to-home programs. These include the 'Tinaco en Casa' initiative, which distributed 5,000 water tanks, and food assistance programs that provided egg cartons to over 13,000 residents and 24,000 food packages. Educational support through the 'Potosí para la Educación' program provided backpacks and school supplies to 13,700 students.
