Villa de Pozos coordinates Sixth Potosina Migrant Caravan for 2026

Authorities from three levels of government, along with consular representatives from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, have begun coordination efforts for the Sixth Potosina Migrant Caravan 2026. The initiative aims to ensure a safe, orderly, and dignified return for thousands of families returning to Mexico during the December holiday season.

Hosted by the municipal government of Villa de Pozos, the planning meetings focus on strengthening protection, assistance, and accompaniment for migrants during their journey. The caravan is scheduled for December 20, with more than 2,000 vehicles expected to depart from Brownsville, Texas, traveling toward San Luis Potosí and other Mexican states.

Luis Enrique Hernández Segura, director of the Institute of Migration and International Liaison (IMEI) of San Luis Potosí, emphasized the state government's commitment to supporting both Mexican nationals and foreign citizens from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. The coordination includes the National Institute of Migration to establish mechanisms for prevention, surveillance, and timely assistance throughout the route.
