Villa del Norte residents denounce lack of security and services

Residents of the Villa del Norte community in Villa Mella, Santo Domingo, have reported significant deficiencies regarding security, healthcare, and recreational services. During a community dialogue organized by Listín Diario, local leaders and residents met with representatives from the National Police and the Ministry of Interior and Police to voice these concerns.

While police officials, including Major José Morel, assured the community of their constant availability and provided emergency contact information, residents expressed deep skepticism. Yismely Rosario Torres, president of the Licey II neighborhood association, stated that community members have lost hope in receiving effective responses from law enforcement. She noted a prevailing sense of distrust, alleging that authorities often fail to address complaints adequately or target the wrong individuals.
