Villa d'Este hosts 200‑year Pinocchio celebration in Italy

The historic Villa d'Este in Tivoli hosted a two‑night cultural program titled “Eterno Pinocchio – Duecento anni di Collodi” to mark the 200th anniversary of Carlo Collodi’s birth. The events, held on 9 and 11 August at 18:45, combined audiovisual mapping, live music, cinema screenings and literary discussion in the villa’s cloister.

Panels featured Giordano Bruno Guerri, president of the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi, literary scholar Daniela Marcheschi and writer‑psychologist Luigi Turinese, introduced by Alberto Samonà and moderated by Fulvia Toscano. The first evening focused on the novel’s literary and symbolic impact, followed by a screening of Disney’s classic Pinocchio animation. The second night shifted to television, music and new visual languages, including a showing of Luigi Comencini’s 1972 adaptation and a live performance of Fiorenzo Carpie’s soundtrack, accompanied by immersive mapping by the FLYer collective.
