Villa Dorothéa boutique hotel opens in Lisbon's Lapa district

A new boutique hotel, Villa Dorothéa, has opened in the Lapa district of Lisbon, Portugal. The property consists of five interconnected 19th-century houses, originally built in 1878 for local fishing families, which have been restored to create a private micro-neighborhood.

Designed by LACASTA Interior Design Studio and Carla Kottmann, the interiors blend historical architectural details with contemporary furniture and curated decorative objects. The hotel eschews a traditional lobby in favor of cobblestone paths, quiet courtyards, and terraces.

The estate features a 25-seat gastrobar called ‘The Secret,’ which includes a secluded courtyard and a rooftop terrace with city views. The bar is open to both hotel guests and external visitors, offering signature cocktails inspired by the epic poem ‘Os Lusíadas’ and a menu centered on shared dishes.
