Villa Elvira land dispute leads to clashes and one arrest

Tensions escalated in the Villa Elvira area of La Plata following an attempt to occupy a large plot of land located at 118 and 604. Approximately 50 individuals were detected within the premises, which spans at least four blocks, attempting to demarcate lots.

According to police reports, the group responded to law enforcement arrival by covering their faces and constructing barricades using sticks, tires, and stones, some of which were set on fire. When attempts to dialogue failed, the situation turned hostile, with individuals throwing stones at officers. Infantry personnel were deployed and used non-lethal deterrent ammunition to disperse the crowd.

An 18-year-old male was arrested during the operation after allegedly attempting to attack officers with a slingshot. This incident follows a similar confrontation in the same location nine days prior. The current case has been classified as attempted usurpation and resistance to authority, under the jurisdiction of UFIJ N° 17. The underlying conflict involves allegations of fraudulent land sales and documentation issues.
