Villa La Angostura mayor seeks intervention after OSECAC office closure
The Mayor of Villa La Angostura, Javier Murer, has requested urgent intervention from the National Superintendency of Health Services following the permanent closure of the local OSECAC healthcare provider office.
The request follows actions by the local Ombudsman's Office, which began managing complaints from members affected by the decision. Murer noted that the closure creates significant difficulties for residents, particularly elderly individuals and those undergoing delicate medical treatments, who must now travel over 80 kilometers to San Carlos de Bariloche to manage medical authorizations, prescriptions, or administrative tasks.
Murer criticized the reliance on digital channels, stating that they are insufficient for all needs and that requiring residents to travel through mountain terrain during difficult weather conditions creates an “unjust and dangerous barrier.” He further questioned OSECAC's decision to cite internal organizational issues rather than addressing the specific needs of the local community.
