Villa La Angostura promotes sustainable gardens to conserve native biodiversity

In Villa La Angostura, Argentina, local authorities and researchers are promoting biodiversity conservation through sustainable gardening initiatives. As part of the Garden Festival and the Citizen Science Lecture Series, the municipality hosted a workshop titled ‘From private garden to public benefit: biodiversity and territorial management based on science and participation.’

Researchers from INIBIOMA (CONICET-UNCo), including doctors Rocío Bahía and Luciana Elizalde, provided residents with practical tools to transform private green spaces into refuges for native insects and birds. The project, funded by the Green Initiatives Support Fund, aims to integrate private gardens into a broader regional strategy for preserving local wildlife through science-based land management and community involvement.
