Villa María implements mandatory pet ID system and orders closure of illegal nursing home

The city council of Villa María approved an ordinance establishing a free municipal registry that will assign a DNI‑style identification to dogs and cats. Registration becomes mandatory from the fourth month of life, and the municipality will increase free public sterilizations to 80 per day. The former pet adoption center is being converted into a specialized animal welfare center, and provisions are included for community‑owned stray animals, dangerous breeds, and virtual adoption listings.

Separately, Villa María authorities issued a closure order for an unlicensed elderly‑care residence on Bv. Italia 500 that was housing ten seniors. The closure will be carried out under a temporary supervised arrangement, keeping the residents on site until families can relocate them to properly licensed facilities, with penalties for abandonment or neglect.
