Villa María inaugurates student residence for regional youth

The city of Villa María has inaugurated ‘La Casa del Estudiante’, a new residential facility designed to support students from the surrounding region who travel to the city for higher education. The project is a collaborative effort between the Municipality of Villa María and the EnRed regional development network.

The residence is located in a repurposed former hotel in the city center. It features 30 double rooms with a total capacity for 60 residents. Currently, 45 spots have already been assigned, with interest reported from 23 different localities. To support the initiative, the Municipality of Villa María will cover 50 percent of the building's rental costs.

During the inauguration, Córdoba Governor Martín Llaryora and Villa María Mayor Eduardo Accastello emphasized that the facility aims to reduce the economic barriers to education. Llaryora noted that access to university studies has historically depended heavily on a family's financial capacity rather than just talent or desire. The initiative seeks to provide academic opportunities to students who lack the resources to afford private rentals.
