Villa María joins international sustainability congress in Chile

The Municipality of Villa María participated in the international congress ‘Gobernar en los extremos’ (Governing in the Extremes) held in Punta Arenas, Chile, from September 2 to 5. Organized alongside the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the event was hosted by the Network of Sustainable Cities and Mayors for Democracy.

The congress brought together mayors and local authorities from Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica to strengthen regional cooperation and share best practices for sustainable development. Key discussion topics included local government management in rigorous geographic and climatic conditions, political leadership, energy transition, and climate change adaptation strategies.

Participants also addressed urban planning, waste management, the protection of natural resources such as water and native forests, and the preservation of strategic ecosystems like the Antarctic and the Strait of Magellan.
