Villa María modernizes urban transport with new fleet and technology

The Municipality of Villa María has introduced five new buses to its urban passenger transport system, bringing the total fleet to 15 vehicles. The acquisition, funded by resources from the Endemur public company via metered parking revenues, includes units equipped with air conditioning, wheelchair ramps, and a “kneeling” system to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.

The modernization plan also includes a significant technological upgrade, transitioning from fourth-generation to seventh-generation validators with 5G connectivity. This allows for real-time satellite tracking and improved payment interoperability. Users can now pay using the “Tin” card, which is compatible with various cities in Córdoba, as well as cash, SUBE, Mercado Pago, and credit or debit cards through virtual wallets.

Mayor Eduardo Accastello stated that this initiative is the first step in a broader urban mobility reconversion plan aimed at supporting the city’s status as a university hub and encouraging public transport use among workers.
