Villa Mercedes Mayor announces municipal charter review
Maximiliano Frontera, the Mayor of Villa Mercedes, has announced plans to review the municipal Organic Charter, which was last modified in 2009. This initiative will run alongside a partial reform of the San Luis provincial constitution.
Frontera stated that the goal is to update regulations, expand citizen participation mechanisms, and address provisions that may hinder the growth and development of Villa Mercedes. To facilitate this, working groups will be formed involving legislators, former officials, and community representatives. The mayor also expressed support for the provincial constitutional reform, noting the necessity of updating institutions to reflect four decades of social and functional changes. One key aspect of the reform includes the potential move toward a unified electoral system to reduce the frequency and cost of elections.
