Villa Nueva clarifies that vehicle inspections are not mandatory

The municipality of Villa Nueva has clarified that the Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV) is not mandatory for drivers within the city. This official statement follows confusion among residents after reports surfaced regarding a private facility preparing to offer inspection services in the area.

While the ITV is recognized under provincial and national regulations, local authorities stated there is no municipal ordinance making the inspection a requirement for circulation. The municipality emphasized that any demand for the inspection at local checkpoints would be illegal under current local rules.

The situation creates a distinction between the two neighboring cities separated by the Ctalamochita River. While Villa Nueva does not require the inspection, the government of Villa María has confirmed that the ITV remains mandatory for drivers in its jurisdiction.
