Fatal crash on Argentina's Ruta 11 kills driver and injures several passengers

A front‑on collision between a Paraguayan‑registered car and a loaded truck occurred near kilometre 870 on Ruta Nacional 11 in the Villa Ocampo district of Santa Fe Province. The impact was severe enough to eject the car’s engine and overturn the vehicle, killing the driver, identified as Ricardo Canizza, a Paraguayan citizen traveling toward Buenos Aires. Five other occupants – including a child and several adults – were seriously injured and taken to local hospitals. Authorities closed the highway for several hours while police, firefighters, emergency services and forensic investigators worked the scene, cleared the wreckage and conducted preliminary peritajes. The cause of the crash is under investigation, with early testimony suggesting the car may have been erratically weaving before the impact. Road traffic was rerouted until the route was reopened later in the day.
