Villa Ocampo officials clarify trichinosis detection in pigs

In Villa Ocampo, Duilio Bled, head of ASSAL, addressed concerns regarding positive trichinosis cases in pigs. He clarified that while three positive results were detected, the sanitary protocols in place ensure that contaminated meat does not reach consumers.

Bled explained that animals undergo enzymatic digestion analysis in specialized laboratories during the slaughter process. Any animal testing positive is confiscated and not released for consumption. Furthermore, when a positive case is identified within a batch, additional controls are implemented on the remaining animals in that lot to ensure safety.
