Italy law enforcement conducts widespread drug and security operations

Law enforcement agencies across Italy have conducted a series of coordinated operations targeting drug trafficking, organized crime, and public safety violations. In a major crackdown coordinated by the Bologna Anti-Mafia District Directorate, authorities seized over 54 kilograms of cocaine and approximately 16 million euros in assets, resulting in 15 precautionary measures against 35 individuals linked to distribution and money laundering networks.

In various regions, local Carabinieri and police units have carried out targeted patrols. In Sicily, operations in Villabate led to the arrest of a 20-year-old found with hashish hidden in a pressure cooker, while in Monreale, a 50-year-old was arrested after a canine unit discovered drugs and a firearm hidden in garden vegetation. Other regional activities included inspections in Zafferana Etnea to ensure food safety during local festivals and labor inspections in Agrigento that resulted in the suspension of several businesses due to illegal employment and safety violations.

Additional security measures focused on road safety and urban crime, including arrests in Trapani for driving violations and in Teramo for drug dealing near a railway station. In Naples, authorities investigated the theft of oncology medications from the Pascale Institute, leading to the arrest of a security guard suspected of facilitating the crime.
