Villadangos del Páramo hosts International Medieval Combat Tournament
The historic village of Villadangos del Páramo in León will stage the 28th edition of the Batalla de Villadangos from 7 to 9 August. The highlight is the inaugural I Torneo Internacional de Combate Medieval (Buhurt), a fully‑contact, regulated sport that will feature ten elite teams from Spain, France and Portugal.
Organised by the Asociación Española de Combate Medieval and the Sala de Armas Carranza, the tournament will include duels with sword and shield, two‑handed swords, pole‑arms and massive 3‑vs‑3 melees on the Liza field. A live reenactment of the 1111 battle will pit forces led by the Infante Alfonso Raimúndez and Bishop Gelmírez against the army of King Alfonso I “El Batallador”. The weekend also offers medieval market stalls, weapon exhibitions, workshops, a cetrería show and a themed dinner.
