Village in the Shade released on Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC

NIS America, Inc. has announced the release of Village in the Shade, a hand-painted farming simulator set in the traditional Japanese mountain village of Kagatsu. Developed by the creators of the Yomawari series, the game combines cozy life simulation with underlying mystery elements.

Players can engage in typical farming activities such as planting crops, hunting, fishing, and decorating homesteads. The game features traditional Japanese cultural activities, including summer festivals and cherry-blossom viewing.

To accommodate different player preferences, the game includes a “Village in the Sunshine” mode. This mode prevents players from breaking specific village rules—such as talking to strangers, leaving the village, or going out at night—allowing for a strictly peaceful experience without the horror elements present in the standard gameplay. The title is available for £49.99 on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Nintendo eShop.
