Village in the Shade set for October 2026 release

NIS America has announced that the video game ‘Village in the Shade’ will be released in Western markets on October 27, 2026. Developed by Nippon Ichi Software, the title will be available on PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Set in the mountain village of Kagatsu, Japan, the game is a life simulation title that blends rural management—such as farming, fishing, and decorating—with horror elements. Players must adhere to specific village rules, including not speaking to strangers, not leaving the village, and not venturing out at night, to uncover the community's secrets.

For players seeking a non-horror experience, a ‘Village in the Sunshine’ mode is available, which allows for peaceful simulation without the supernatural elements or the ability to break village rules. Following its release in Japan and Asia, which saw sales exceeding 100,000 to 150,000 copies, the game will also offer a limited collector’s edition priced at $89.99.
