Villagers of Ioannina City release new album ‘Venceremos’

The Greek band Villagers of Ioannina City has released their new album, ‘Venceremos’, through Napalm Records. This marks their first major release in seven years following ‘Age of Aquarius’.

The album features nine tracks that blend heavy rock and progressive metal with the band’s traditional folk roots. While incorporating traditional instruments like the bagpipes and zurna, the group has moved toward a more aggressive, progressive sound with complex compositions and dark atmospheres.

Thematically, ‘Venceremos’ explores a dystopian future centered on themes of resistance, exile, and the search for freedom against control and fear. The lyrical content includes imagery of a broken world and incorporates the voice of Giorgos Seferis to express hope for justice.
