Villanueva de los Infantes hosts Quevedo art exhibition
The Fundación José María de Jaime in Villanueva de los Infantes has inaugurated ‘TRIVEDO, tres visiones artísticas sobre la figura de Quevedo’, an exhibition exploring the multifaceted life and work of the Golden Age writer Francisco de Quevedo.
The exhibition features the work of three local artists: Miguel Medina, Modesto Sánchez, and Pedro López. The collection aims to capture Quevedo’s complex personality, ranging from his metaphysical poetry to his satirical wit and the shadows of his biography.
Pedro López contributes a reinterpretation of his previous series, ‘Los amigos puteros de Quevedo’, which explores the more mundane legends of the writer’s life. His work includes modern perspectives, such as imagining how contemporary celebrity media might cover Quevedo’s historical anecdotes.
The event coincides with the 400th anniversary of the publication of ‘El Buscón’. The exhibition also highlights the historical connection between Quevedo and Villanueva de los Infantes, the location where the author died in 1645.
