Spain municipalities implement diverse infrastructure and utility reforms

Various municipalities across Spain are implementing significant infrastructure and policy changes. In Castelló, political opposition has criticized a 4% increase in waste tax for 2026, noting that many residents will not benefit from existing rebates. Similarly, in Jerez, the PSOE reports over 1,000 complaints regarding new waste tax bills.

Water management projects are also underway, including a new 3.1 million euro wastewater treatment plant in La Llacuna and a 1.3 million euro facility in La Iglesuela del Cid. In Segovia, a portable treatment plant has been deployed in Revenga to address water turbidity. In Calvià, the government has allocated 23.9 million euros for wastewater services through 2029.

Urban development continues with the renovation of the Casa Grande Business Park in Torrevieja (1.5 million euros) and the repair of the 6.7 km Vía Verde. In Zaragoza, the approval of a Tereos treatment plant has faced local opposition due to concerns over water conductivity. Other regional updates include the expansion of the Villarrasa landfill, road paving in Ciudad Real, and the planned removal of a dangerous curve in Onda to create a green space.
