Canadian footballers Tajon Buchanan and Tani Oluwaseyi are set to compete in the 2026-27 LaLiga season with Villarreal. The club begins its campaign on Sunday against Racing Santander, marking the latter's return to Spain's top flight after 14 years.

Villarreal enters the season with high expectations following a third-place finish in the previous campaign, which secured Champions League qualification. The team will be led by new head coach Iñigo Pérez, who replaces Marcelino.

Buchanan, who joined Villarreal permanently from Inter Milan in July 2025, enters his second full season with the club. During his breakout campaign, the Brampton, Ontario native scored seven LaLiga goals, including a hat-trick against Girona.
