Villarreal to raise Georges Mikautadze release clause to €75 million
Villarreal CF is moving to protect its top scorer, Georges Mikautadze, by increasing his release clause during the final stages of the summer transfer window. The club plans to raise the clause from €60 million to €75 million in the last ten days of the market to discourage late bids that would leave the club with insufficient time to find a replacement.
Newcastle United has reportedly expressed interest in the 25-year-old Georgian international, with potential bids reaching approximately €55 million. However, this figure remains below Villarreal’s existing and proposed valuation. Mikautadze, who joined Villarreal from Lyon in 2025 for a total package of roughly €36 million, finished the 2025-26 campaign as the club’s leading scorer with 15 goals and six assists.
