Villarrica judge orders detention for double femicide suspect
A judge in Villarrica has ordered preventive detention for W. E. C. T., a 41-year-old man accused of the double femicide of a 34-year-old woman and the rape and femicide of her 15-year-old daughter.
The crimes occurred on September 18 in the Vegas de Lessio sector of Villarrica, in the La Araucanía region. Both victims were found dead with injuries consistent with being struck by a blunt object, which investigators believe was an axe.
According to Prosecutor José Ramírez, the suspect allegedly confessed to his mother that he killed the woman with an axe. Following the crimes, the suspect fled to the Vegas de Lessio area, where he was apprehended by Carabineros. The court has set a 10-month period for the investigation to proceed.
