Villas del Norte residents demand urgent road repairs

Residents of the Villas del Norte neighborhood in Licey, Villa Mella (Santo Domingo Norte), are demanding urgent government intervention to address the deplorable state of their main road. For over 25 years, the community has struggled with an unpaved, pothole-ridden street that hinders economic development and prevents public transportation access.

During the ‘Diálogos para la Convivencia Barrial’ forum, organized by Listín Diario, community leaders expressed frustration over the lack of progress. Virtudes Montero, president of the Villas del Norte Neighborhood Association, reported that despite seven technical surveys conducted by various institutions, no actual paving work has been completed. Montero described the living conditions as inhumane, noting that the road's condition creates significant difficulties for residents, particularly children, during rainy periods.
