Villasanta inaugurates road honoring 21 women of the Constituent Assembly
The municipality of Villasanta has inaugurated a new road named in honor of the 21 women elected to the Italian Constituent Assembly in 1946. The ceremony took place on October 3 in the San Fiorano area, near the via Fratelli Bandiera underpass.
Beyond its symbolic value, the new road and its accompanying roundabout, completed this summer with private funding, serve a functional purpose in local urban planning. The project is part of a long-term initiative started in the 1990s to eliminate four level crossings along the Milan-Lecco and Monza-Molteno railway lines. The next planned intervention involves the level crossing between via Manzoni and via Sciesa.
To commemorate the historical significance of the 21 women—five of whom served on the Commission of 75 to draft the Constitution—the town hall has also opened an exhibition titled ‘Le Costituenti’. The exhibition, which explores the political and institutional contributions of these women, will remain open to the public until October 18.
