Villasimius to host eight-day celebrations for Santa Maria

Villasimius will host an eight-day series of religious and civil celebrations in honor of Santa Maria from September 5 to 12.

The religious program features central events on September 7 and 8. On Monday, September 7, a mass will be held at the San Raffaele Arcangelo parish, followed by a procession of the Santa Maria icon through various local streets. The procession will be accompanied by the “Crabonaxia” folk group and traditional musicians.

On Tuesday, September 8, additional processions are scheduled near the rural church, including a return procession featuring riders in traditional Sardinian attire and multiple folk groups from across the island.

Parallel to the religious ceremonies, a civil program includes musical performances and comedy shows scheduled throughout the week.
