Villavicencio Mayor requests government coverage for combat funeral costs

Alexander Baquero, the Mayor of Villavicencio, has called on the Colombian national government to assume the funeral and identification costs for individuals killed in combat in other regions.

Baquero stated that bodies from clashes involving dissident groups in areas such as Guaviare are being transported to the morgue in Villavicencio for identification and processing. This has placed a significant financial burden on the municipal administration, which the mayor argues is no longer sustainable. He noted that these funds could otherwise be directed toward social investment and the School Feeding Program (PAE). The mayor intends to bring this grievance to the Congress of the Republic to seek a formal response and resource allocation.
