Villavicencio public works project faces delays and budget modifications

A public works project in Villavicencio, managed under Contract No. 3631 of 2025 by the Mayor's Office, is facing scrutiny due to significant delays and modifications. Originally valued at $2.136 billion pesos with an expected execution period of only 26 days, the project has undergone multiple suspensions and extensions, with a new completion date set for October 24, 2026.

Public documents from SECOP II reveal that a modification made approximately three months after the project began represented nearly 69% of the initially contemplated direct cost. Furthermore, community members have raised concerns regarding the removal of several planned amenities from the project, including ping pong tables, bicycle parking, and a bicycle station.
