Villaviciosa and Xinzo de Limia host vibrant summer festivals
Villaviciosa in Asturias celebrated the traditional El Carmen festivities across its four parishes—Tazones, Amandi, Santa Eugenia and Candanal—with maritime processions, traditional fisher outfits, a solemn mass, a blessing of the sea and performances by local bands and choirs. The celebrations featured the Banda de Gaites, a crescendo of music, fireworks and a lively market.
In Galicia, the town of Xinzo de Limia concluded its Santa Mariña celebrations with a vermouth session in the main square, a children’s programme, a table‑football championship and concerts by the Olympus and Kiko Rivera orchestras. The schedule was adjusted to accommodate the World Cup final, and the festivities ended with a late‑night musical finale.
Both events highlighted regional cultural traditions, community participation and a mix of religious and secular entertainment.
