Villena establishes diplomatic and commercial ties with Guilin and Shanghai
A municipal delegation from Villena, led by Mayor Fulgencio Cerdán and Economic Development Councilor Paula García, has initiated diplomatic and commercial ties with several Chinese cities.
In Guilin, the delegation began the process of establishing a sister-city relationship. The visit, hosted by Guilin Mayor Lu Xinhua, focused on cooperation in tourism, industrial development, and student exchange programs.
Simultaneously, the delegation met with the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce to arrange a bilateral meeting between businesses from Villena and local Chinese firms. This initiative aims to facilitate commercial contacts in sectors such as agri-food, wine, and specialized footwear.
During these meetings, officials presented the Levante Interior Logistics Node project to Chinese investors. The project has drawn interest due to Villena's strategic position near the Mediterranean Corridor and the ports of Valencia and Alicante, serving as a potential gateway to the European market.
